"Numbers have Life; they are not just symbols on paper."

Maths Vision Statement

Developing confident mathematicians who demonstrate their love of maths and make contributions as global citizens, inspired by the values that represent our school: creativity, teamwork, inclusion, resilience, respect and kindness.

Botley School staff have adopted a mastery approach in maths and children are working with concrete maths equipment, pictorial representations and abstract concepts of maths.  We move throughout the year ensuring fluency in maths ideas and apply our work to problem solving.  Children are encouraged to use questioning and to think about their own learning styles when responding to maths.  We have our own calculation policy which ensures that children have a progressive learning journey.
