KS1 & KS2 Curriculum Overview

At Botley School we have organised our curriculum into units of work for each year group, covering all subjects within the Primary National Curriculum and the Locally Agreed Syllabus for RE.

Below is the current Botley School long term curriculum overview for the wider curriculum subjects. Separate overviews for English and Mathematics can be found on the individual subject pages. The Curriculum for the Nursery and Reception classes can be found on the EYFS page.

Teachers may adapt the order to fit in with world events, seasons or to create further curriculum links etc but coverage will be completed within the appropriate academic year.

Whole School Curriculum Overview

We share resources and ideas, to organise trips and visits into school which will involve all of the phase.  Teachers can share expertise and planning and ensure that children receive a consistent curriculum.  Our curriculum creates links between subjects within each term, for example, designing clothing and armour for Romans, painting views of Stonehenge, collaging woolly mammoths, expressing Anglo Saxon lives through dance, writing river poems in English.

We also use 'Curriculum Concept' themes to provide a greater depth of learning and to enable our pupils to make their own connections across their learning. Each year group chooses four main curriculum concepts per term to match the subjects being taught. The document below provides examples of curriculum concepts that might be included. the concepts in bold must be covered in those terms to match our school values. Teachers are able to choose the remaining three concepts to fit with their units of work.
