Proposed SEND Resource Base Change of Status Consultation 2026

Botley School Proposal for a New SEND Resource Base

Introduction

Botley School is extremely proud of its inclusive and welcoming community. We are dedicated to ensuring that every child has access to a curriculum and learning experience that challenges and inspires them. We have demonstrated our commitment to inclusion by opening our highly successful enhanced provision in 2023 which is regularly recommended by partnership agencies. We wish to take the next step in ensuring we can provide for the needs of our community by creating and opening a Resource Base at Botley School to meet the needs of pupils with higher level communication and interaction needs, including autism spectrum conditions.

Botley School and the Acer Trust have the support of the local authority to create a Resource Base (a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision) at Botley school, Oxford.  This proposal has been developed in response to the increased demand for special educational needs provision in the Oxfordshire and West Oxford Area.

Following the creation of the resource base, Botley School and the Acer Trust will work in partnership with the local authority to ensure that all admissions are handled effectively and efficiently.
