PGL Adventures 2025

Day One - Monday 17th November 2025

Dear Diary,

Today we went to PGL. We were shown our rooms and had lunch - we had pizza. For our first activity we did fencing and for our second activity we went abseiling. Then we had dinner and then we were allowed to visit each other's rooms. After that we had one more activity - balloon splash!

Then we had an hour to shower and get into our PJs. Mr Griffiths is reading a story to everyone in our corridor and then we will be going to bed.

Day Two - Tuesday 18th November 2025

Dear Diary,

Today we did the problem solving and trapeze. One of our favourite parts of the day was the abseiling because we were facing our fears by leaning off of the side of the abseiling tower. The problem solving was also fun. We did a giant marble set, a confusing stick puzzle and three riddles. We ate lots of delicious chili non carne with rice or jacket potatoes for lunch.

The trapeze was really exciting because we had to climb up a pole with the giant staples in the side to get to the platform and then we had to jump to try and catch the trapeze. It was really fun but it was also really scary jumping off.

Our group did the vertical climb today. One at a time we had to be strapped on and then climb as high as we could. Then the next two were strapped on and climbed up as well. One person was amazing and got to the very top of the climb.

For our evening activity, we played ambush. We were split into two teams and one team had to hide in the woods and leave arrows to where they were hiding. The other team had to follow the arrows and try to find them, without torches. If they found them, they had to shout ambush, but if they walked past the hiders, then the hiding team could shout ambush instead.

By the way parents, the children all miss you, even though we're having lots of fun at PGL.

Day Three - Wednesday 19th November 2025

Dear Diary,

In the morning it was snowing so it was very cold and we all went on the cold trampolines to play Aeroball. We did a tournament where we made team names and then we played each other. Next we did the climbing wall, everyone went on the wall but only some of us got all the way to the top (because our fingers were freezing).

After lunch we did the sensory trail where you needed to wear a blindfold. We went over and under things as well as through different shapes. Finally we did archery, which was quite fun, and we learnt how to shoot properly. In the evening we did the camp fire and we sang songs! We also had marshmallows.

Day Four - Thursday 20th November 2025

Dear Diary,

Today Mr Griffiths woke us up with someone saying 'Wake up!' One group did buggy building and went against another group and our team won! Even though they had an early start. When we were running they ran too fast and one of us let go and got pulled along the grass whilst people were still running. In buggy building we built our buggy out of planks, barrels and rope.

Next we did zipwire. First we climbed up a tower and our instructor would shout "I need a hot pink potato head!" because that was the name of our group. Then we would come and be clipped onto the zipwire and slide down and try to grab money that is in the tyre at the end. But no-one got the money in our group.

In the afternoon we did orienteering and our team got ten points and we got the most times. First one of the groups went the complete opposite way from the point. At one point we had to go look for one of the teams because they had been out for ages. But the good thing was it was really fun.

After that we did survivor and we did fire-lighting, building tents and wood carving. It took some of us 7 times to try to light the fire.

Today's evening activity was a disco and there was a limbo and a man with an umbrella on his head. Sometimes we had other leaders at the front of us who led some dances. At the end the birthday people stood up to sing happy birthday.

Day Five - Friday 21st November 2025

Dear Diary,

Today we had to pack our cases, duvets and sheets for home time before breakfast.

After breakfast we went to do archery. We had a bow and an arrow and a target to shoot at. Each circle had a number of points. The grass was 1 point, the white was 5 points, the black was 10, the blue was 15, the red was 20 and the gold was 50.

Next we had Jacob's ladder. We had to climb up a wooden ladder made of logs that kept getting further and further apart. We had a harness on to make sure we didn't fall.

We feel good about this week because we got to be with our friends and we had different activities throughout the week.

The whole week was amazing because we went on a zip wire and wore harnesses a lot!

Sunday 23rd November 2025

Dear Diary,

We are finally home, washed, and catching up on sleep, but we can't stop talking about the last five days. Looking back, our week at PGL Liddington was honestly the best week of Year 6 so far!

It feels like ages ago that we arrived on Monday and ate that first pizza lunch, not knowing what to expect. Since then, we’ve frozen our fingers off on the climbing wall in the snow, screamed our heads off on the giant swing, and laughed until our sides hurt during the "hot pink potato head" zipwire challenge.

We are so proud of ourselves. We faced some massive fears this week. Whether it was leaping for the Trapeze, trusting the harness on the Vertical Climb, or just surviving the Sensory Trail blindfolded, we did it together as a team. The "Ambush" game in the dark was legendary, and the disco on Thursday night—complete with the umbrella man and the limbo—was the perfect way to celebrate.

We want to say a massive thank you to the team who kept us safe (and sane!) all week. Mr Griffiths was brilliant, from reading us bedtime stories to waking us up with far too much energy! Mrs Reid, Miss Thomas, Mrs King, and Ms van Rooij were there for every wobble, every tangled harness, and every time we struggled to put a duvet cover on. They cheered us on when we were scared and danced with us when we were happy.

A huge shout out to the staff at PGL Liddington too—they had so much energy, taught us the best songs around the campfire, and kept us safe on every single activity.

We are all absolutely exhausted and our washing piles are huge, but we have made memories that will last forever. It’s going to be strange sitting back at our desks in Cypress Class tomorrow morning without a harness on, but we are ready for the next adventure.

Over and out,

Cypress Class (Year 6)
