Botley School Remote Learning Plan: Physical Education (PE)

Physical Education During Remote Learning

Maintaining physical activity is crucial during periods of remote learning. We encourage pupils to stay active and healthy at home. Here are some resources and ideas:

Keeping Active at Home:

While at home, it's important to keep moving! Here are some exciting websites and activities to help you stay active and fit. Remember, you can also go for a walk, a bike ride, or dance around your home. Get the whole family involved and have fun!

Online Resources:

  • Oxfordshire School Games at Home: The Oxfordshire School Games at Home website (link above) has some great challenges you can do at home. This is a fantastic resource for structured activities and friendly competition.

Other Activity Ideas:

  • Walks and Bike Rides: Enjoy the outdoors with family walks or bike rides. Remember to follow any current guidelines regarding social distancing and outdoor gatherings.
  • Dance: Put on some music and have a dance party! This is a fun way to get your heart rate up and improve coordination.
  • Active Play: Engage in active play in your garden or a local park (if permitted). This could include games like tag, skipping, or playing with a ball.
  • Online Exercise Videos: Many online platforms offer free exercise videos suitable for children. These can provide structured workouts and guidance.
  • Household Chores: Even helping with chores can contribute to physical activity. Putting away groceries, sweeping, or gardening can all get you moving.

Encouraging Participation:

We encourage parents to support their children in staying active by:

  • Setting aside dedicated time for physical activity.
  • Joining in activities as a family.
  • Creating a fun and supportive environment.
  • Tracking progress and celebrating achievements.

Communication and Support:

PE teachers will share additional activity ideas and resources through the class Teams page or via Tapestry (for Early Years). They will also be available to answer questions and provide support.
