Teachers and classes for 2026-27
Nursery - Butterflies Class
Miss Daisy Jones
Hello, I'm Daisy and I am delighted to be joining the Nursery team this September!
Previously, I have taught in Year 1 and Year 2 at Botley School, where I enjoyed helping children grow in confidence, develop new skills and achieve their goals. I am passionate about creating a happy, nurturing environment where every child feels settled, valued and excited to learn.
One of the things I love most about our school is the strong sense of community and the supportive relationships between children, families and staff. I look forward to getting to know all of the children and helping them make a wonderful start to their learning journey.
Outside of school, I enjoy sewing, crafts and being creative. I also love music.
I am very excited to welcome the children to Nursery and can't wait for a fantastic year together!
Reception - Ladybirds Class
Mr Jonathan Jones
I’ve been teaching at Botley School for the past six years. During that time, I’ve been lucky enough to work across a range of year groups, which I’ve really enjoyed as it’s given me a broad experience of supporting different children as they grow and develop.
In the classroom, I particularly love teaching Maths. I enjoy making lessons as practical and hands-on as possible, helping children to really understand what they’re learning in a fun and engaging way. Reading is also a big passion of mine—I’m always reading something and love sharing that enthusiasm with the children, whether it’s recommending books or enjoying class stories together.
Outside of school, I like to keep active. You’ll often find me playing rugby, going for a run, or spending time in the gym. I think it’s really important to stay active and positive, and I try to bring that same energy into the classroom. I’m really looking forward to the year ahead and getting to know both the children and you as parents.
Year 1 - Apple Class
Miss Katie Crowhurst
I am delighted to be joining Botley School as the Year 1 class teacher and can’t wait to get to know the children and their families.
I love creating a classroom where children feel confident and excited to learn. Reading is one of my biggest passions, and I enjoy sharing stories that spark children’s imagination and curiosity. I believe books are a wonderful way to help children see themselves, learn about others and celebrate the diversity of the world around them. I love choosing stories that represent different backgrounds and experiences so that every child feels included, valued and that they belong.
Outside of school, I love animals, arts and crafts, running and spending quality time with friends and family. Sport has been a huge part of my life, and I have been fortunate to compete at an elite level alongside my studies. I love the confidence, teamwork and enjoyment that being active can bring, and I hope to encourage those same values in the classroom. I also have a visual impairment, which has never affected my ability to teach and support every child in the classroom, or stopped me from pursuing my goals. It has helped me to develop resilience, creativity and determination, qualities I hope to share with the children in my class.
I am really looking forward to the year ahead and to supporting your children as they begin their exciting Year 1 journey.
Year 2 - Poplar Class
Miss Amy Sutton
Hello everyone!
My name is Ms Amy Sutton, and I am delighted to be joining Year 2 at Botley Primary School. I have been teaching primary-aged children for five years and previously spent three years teaching Year 2 in Oxford. For the past two years, I have been teaching Year 4 and Year 5 at an international primary school in Mexico City. I am excited to bring some of the colour, culture and experiences I have enjoyed in Mexico into the classroom.
I am a drama specialist and love encouraging curiosity and creativity through drama. I have also been told that I am an excellent storyteller, which I hope will help inspire a love of books and learning in our class.
Outside of school, I enjoy travelling, hiking, cycling and running, as well as spending time with family and friends. I also love reading, discovering new places and learning about wildlife. One of my favourite things about being a teacher is seeing children grow in confidence and celebrating their achievements.
I am really looking forward to getting to know all the children and families and to sharing a wonderful year of learning, laughter and adventure together.
Years 3 & 4 - Sycamore Class
Mr Johnny James
I'm really looking forward to teaching my current Year 2s and seeing even more progress as we move into Year 3, and getting to know the current Year 3s better as we move into Year 4. I actually met the new Year 4 children the first time I ever taught at Botley, when we read 'The Squirrels Who Squabbled' and talked about our value of teamwork!
Next year will be my twelfth year of teaching, and I have taught every year group from Reception-Year 6 at a range of schools, so I'm really hoping that this will help me to help all of you do your best. I also taught English to primary, secondary and adult learners in Thailand before completing my teacher training, so I hope that will help me support children with English as an Additional Language.
Outside of school, I love reading, cooking and playing with my kittens (who won't be kittens for much longer!). I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone at Botley even better next year and supporting everyone to reach their true potential.
Year 5 - Hawthorn Class
Miss Aimee Leeksma
I’m really excited to be joining Botley School this year and to be teaching Year 5. Before joining Botley, I taught in Year 2, Year 3 and Year 6, which has given me a strong understanding of both KS1 and KS2 and the different ways children learn and develop across the primary years.
In the classroom, I love teaching all subjects, especially those that allow us to be hands‑on, creative and collaborative. I enjoy using a mix of approaches — from clear, structured teaching to practical activities that get children thinking and working together. When it supports the curriculum, I also like to take learning outdoors to give children fresh ways to explore ideas.
Outside of school, I’m happiest when I’m being active and adventurous. I’ve been involved in dance and gymnastics since I was young, and I love anything that keeps me moving and having fun. I also enjoy exploring new places on long walks, and as I’m new to Oxford, I’ve got plenty of exciting spots to discover.
Year 6 - Cypress Class
Mr George Griffiths
I am very excited to be teaching you next year. My favourite subject to teach is maths because I enjoy solving problems and finding the correct answers. I also love teaching science, especially when we can carry out experiments—I always look forward to seeing what happens when children try new and creative ideas.
In my free time, I am a goalkeeper for my hockey team and usually play three times a week. Recently, I have also started playing golf. I am still learning, but I can already hit the ball quite far!
At the weekends, I enjoy spending time with my family. We often go gardening or shopping, depending on the weather.
Enhanced Pathway - Caterpillars Class
Mrs Reka Chrystal
I am delighted to be joining the school as Teacher of SEND. I have 25 years of experience working with children from Nursery through to Key Stage 2, in both mainstream and specialist settings, which has given me a broad understanding of the diverse needs of learners. Your core values have attracted me to the school.
I believe that every child is unique and deserves an education that is tailored to their individual strengths, interests, and needs. I base my teaching on practical, creative activities which draw the learners in and motivate them.
I am passionate about outdoor education, environmental awareness, and arts and crafts. In my free time, I like to read, go for walks, visit new places or go swimming.
I am excited to become part of the school community and look forward to working closely with pupils, families, and colleagues to help every child achieve their full potential.
Resource Base - Dragonflies Class
Miss Jenny Thomas
I grew up in North Wales and experienced bilingual education, helping to shape my inclusive approach to teaching. In my free time I enjoy cycling, swimming, and photography, and have a passion for learning new skills. I am currently learning Mandarin and Cantonese. In the classroom, I aim to make learning hands-on, engaging, and enjoyable for all pupils.
