Welcome to Hawthorn Class!
Meet your teacher – Miss Aimee Leeksma
I’m really excited to be joining Botley School this year and to be teaching Year 5. Before joining Botley, I taught in Year 2, Year 3 and Year 6, which has given me a strong understanding of both KS1 and KS2 and the different ways children learn and develop across the primary years.
In the classroom, I love teaching all subjects, especially those that allow us to be hands‑on, creative and collaborative. I enjoy using a mix of approaches — from clear, structured teaching to practical activities that get children thinking and working together. When it supports the curriculum, I also like to take learning outdoors to give children fresh ways to explore ideas.
Outside of school, I’m happiest when I’m being active and adventurous. I’ve been involved in dance and gymnastics since I was young, and I love anything that keeps me moving and having fun. I also enjoy exploring new places on long walks, and as I’m new to Oxford, I’ve got plenty of exciting spots to discover.

Homework
Homework will be sent via SATs Companion on a Wednesday to be returned by the following Monday.
Year 5 expectations:
- 10 minutes daily reading.
- 10 minutes daily spelling practise.
- 10 minutes practice of Time Tables Practice
- Weekly Maths activity
- Weekly English activity
