Admissions Arrangements

In the academic year your child turns 4, you will need to apply for a Reception school place through Oxfordshire County Council (OCC). The application process is open from the beginning of November until 15th January and you will be notified of the school place in mid April. Applications outside of this period would be considered as late applications. Please take a look at the OCC website for key dates, further information and the application form. If you are moving schools, you will still need to apply through the OCC website.

Transition into Reception

Once your child has been offered a Reception place by OCC, you will receive a welcome letter outlining the summer term events and an induction pack. The induction pack contains information about Botley School and Reception, including details about the school day, uniform, etc. You will also receive details about your child’s class teacher and a date for a one-to-one meeting.

During the summer term, we will contact your child's current Nursery/Pre-School, if they attend one, and arrange visits to meet your child in their current setting. We will invite you and your child to our transition morning and come and play sessions, where your child can spend time in the Reception environment, meet the staff, and get to know the other children starting in their class.
