Learning this term
Spring Term 1 2021: Long time ago
Our topic this term was ‘Long time ago'. During this term we explored various themes based on the children's interest from a long time ago. We started the term focusing on toys where we made comparisons between toys we have now to those our parents and grandparents had when they were younger. We had a 'games day' and enjoyed playing a variety of games and learnt some new ones. We spent majority of the term learning about vehicles and how they have changed over time. We focused on the story 'The magic train ride' and went on a journey to different lands and loved creating our own lands. We made our own vehicles using junk modelling resources. We ended the term with a focus on scientists and loved exploring different experiments.
Spring Term 2 2021: Will you read me a story?
Our topic this term is ‘Will you read me a story?'. We started this term by sharing our favourite stories and spent a day focusing on each story. One day we read Laura's favourite story 'Giraffe's can't dance' and danced to our favourite pieces of music. Another day we read Becky's favourite story 'The tiger who came to tea' and wrote about who we would like to invite for tea. Another day we read Nicki's favourite story 'Aliens love underpants' and designed our own pants!
We celebrated World Book Day by reading 'The Barnabus Project' as a whole school. We made our own ideal pet and wrote about what they would be like. We also dressed up as our favourite book characters.
We then moved onto focus on Traditional Tales with a particular focus on 'The three little pigs' and 'Jack and the beanstalk'.
