Meet your teacher – Mr Johnny James

Mr Johnny JamesI'm really looking forward to teaching my previous Year 2s and seeing even more progress as we move into Year 3, and getting to know the previous Year 3s better as we move into Year 4. I actually met the new Year 4 children the first time I ever taught at Botley, when we read 'The Squirrels Who Squabbled' and talked about our value of teamwork! 

This year is my twelfth year of teaching, and I have taught every year group from Reception to Year 6 at a range of schools, so I'm really hoping that this will help me to help all of you do your best. I also taught English to primary, secondary and adult learners in Thailand before completing my teacher training, so I hope that it will help me support children with English as an Additional Language. 

Outside of school, I love reading, cooking and playing with my cats, who are now a whole year old! I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone at Botley even better this year and supporting everyone to reach their true potential.

When do I have PE?

Children will have two sessions of PE a week; dance/gym in the hall and an outside PE session. These sessions are on Mondays and Fridays for children in Year 4. For children in Year 3, PE at school will be every Monday and swimming will be on Wednesdays from 26th September. Please ensure that your children have a suitable PE kit in school every day of the week.

When do I have Forest School?

Year 3/4 Forest School takes place on Tuesday afternoons in Terms 2, 4 and 6.

Homework

Homework in Year 3/4 will be sent via Mirodo every Friday and be due the following Wednesday.

Year 3 & 4 expectations:

  • 10 minutes daily reading.
  • 10 minutes daily spelling practise
  • 10 minutes practise of times tables or Times Tables.co.uk
  • Weekly Maths tasks
