Children used different sized clippers of the same make to represent four different species of similar Galapagos finches. Under the rules of the game, different size and colour seeds represent different foods and amounts of calories. One of them is poisonous!
At the end of their research, pupils found that on Island 1 smaller beaked birds couldn't get enough calories to survive or reproduce. Large beaked birds were more likely to eat poison and die. Medium- sized birds faired best.
